De Paul, an Atletico midfielder, hurts his thigh before the Madrid derby.
Prior to this weekend’s derby match against Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo De Paul has been sidelined for an unkown amount of time due to a thigh injury.
The Argentina international was taken off the field just before the hour mark of his team’s LaLiga victory over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
It is now known that De Paul, a member of La Albiceleste’s World Cup-winning team in Qatar 2022, had a thigh injury.
According to the medical examinations Rodrigo De Paul underwent after experiencing muscular issues during the match against Athletic Bilbao, De Paul has a thigh injury.
“The midfielder is awaiting evolution and will start receiving physiotherapy sessions and rehabilitation training.”
Although a potential return date for De Paul has not been specified, Atletico will be hoping he is not out for an extended period of time as Diego Simeone’s team battles for a top-four LaLiga finish.
De Paul’s ability to travel to the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, though, seems improbable.

When Rodrigo De Paul joined Racing in the Argentine Primera División in 2012–2013, he began his professional career. Before leaving, he played there for two seasons, making 57 appearances and scoring 6 goals.
In 2014–2015, De Paul then joined Valencia. He spent two years in La Liga before making a brief loan return to Racing. Before leaving Valencia, he made a total of 44 appearances and contributed two goals. De Paul rejoined Racing for a season before signing with Udinese in 2016-2017.
Before leaving Italy, De Paul had a wonderful five years with the Serie A team. Atlético Madrid, a La Liga team, is where Rodrigo De Paul is currently playing. For the La Liga powerhouses, he has made 66 appearances and scored 6 goals so far.
