Hugh Jackman and Chris Martin Named Co-Chairs of Global Citizen NOW Conference
Hugh Jackman and Chris Martin have been selected as Global Citizen NOW’s conference co-chairs. And Hugh Jackman and Chris Martin will serve as co-chairs of this year’s Global Citizen NOW, a two-day leadership conference that will take place in New York City on April 27-28.
The organizer of the annual Global Citizen music festival, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and actor Hugh Jackman will be part of the effort, which is “focused on transforming ideas into impact and pressing immediate action to alleviate extreme poverty,” Global Citizen said Tuesday morning (Feb. 21).
The list of political figures who will co-chair the summit includes Erna Solberg, a former Norwegian prime minister, Mia Mottley, the president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, the president of the European Commission, and Ursula von der Leyen.
Hans Vestberg, chairman and CEO of Verizon, Nir Bar Dea, co-CEO of Bridgewater Associates, Fran Katsoudas, executive vice president and chief people, policy, and purpose officer of Cisco, Marc Pritchard, chief brand officer of P&G.
And also Diego Scotti executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Verizon, Tshepo Mahloele, founder and group executive director of Harith General Partners, Edward Skyler, executive vice president of Citi, Dr. Rajiv Shah, president of Vanessa Nakate, a climate activist, Catherine McKenna, the former minister of the environment and climate change of Canada, Alok Sharma, the president of COP26, and Yasmine Sherif, the executive director of Education Cannot Wait, have all been announced as speakers at the event.
Global Citizen NOW “demonstrates the power of cross-sector collaboration to solve the most urgent issues facing humanity and our planet,” according to a press release from the organization. Global Citizen NOW “convenes the brightest minds and leading voices across all spheres of society, from world leaders to grassroots activists.”
